One thing I must state clearly is that this post only takes cognizance of what the fees were at the time of writing. If there are already changes before you see this post, you should understand. These fees are subject to changes. It is important to note that the tuition fees for new students have acceptance fees already included, as well as other miscellaneous expenses. By the time they get to 200 level (UTME Candidates) and 300 level (Direct Entry Candidates), these so-called freshers will then begin to pay the fee for returning students.

The University of Nigeria nsukka is one of the cheapest federal university the tuition fee has general break down of full payment and installment, if you choose to pay the school fee in full, the amonth is stipulated at N90,000 naira only.

2(A). FIRST INSTALLMENT 30,000.00
2(B). SECOND INSTALLMENT 30,000.00
2(C). THIRD INSTALLMENT 30,000.00

This means that the UNN gives opportunity to students to pay in installments up to four times if they can't afford the school fee at once.
9.UNIVERSITY OF BENIN (UNIBEN)
The University of Benin is located in the ancient city of Benin, it is one of the most beautiful Nigerian University with worthy academic excellence reputation, it's the number 9th on the list because it's tuition fee is low and should be literally affordable by most parents.
UNIBEN tuition fee can be grouped into two categories
College of medical sciences and other courses
College of medical sciences school fees: N70,000
Other courses : N50,000
Note that this fee reduces as student level increases.
8. UNIVERSITY OF LAGOS (UNILAG)
University of Lagos is located in native town of Akoka, Lagos state, for sure in term of academic excellence you'd bet this Institution can't be here in no 8, but judging with school fee and results of our survey University of Lagos is one of the less expensive federal university in Nigeria when it comes to tuition. Unilag school fee can be broken down into the following:

7. FEDERAL UNIVERSITY OF TECHNOLOGY OWERRI (FUTO)
The federal university of technology Owerri is the 7th cheapest Federal Institution in Nigeria in term of school fees, it's located in the ancient city of Owerri , Imo state. It's school fees can be broken down into the following categories

(ii) second, third and fourth year : N45,000
(iii) fifth year: N47,000

This is where I rep, this is my Alma-Mater, University of Ilorin is no doubt the most sought after Higher Institution in Nigeria, it recorded a total number of 140,000 aspirants in 2015 which make her the only University with 22% of jamb candidates in a calender year, therefore since then have taken a permanent sit upfront the list of most sought University in Nigeria. This development was achieved because of its stable and unbeatable academic stability and fast calender. I was so surprised on the completion of our research that the University of Ilorin is the cheapest University in Nigeria. Not only cheapest federal university but generally the cheapest University in Nigeria at this time.
The University of Ilorin is located in the ancient city of Ilorin, 500km away from Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) Nigeria. It is the second largest University in Nigeria after AHMODU BELLO UNIVERSITY Zaria. The University of Ilorin school fee can be broken down as follows.
School fee for freshers: 18,000 for 90% of all courses
School fee for returning students: 13,000 for 90% of all courses.
